October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The month-long initiative is marked across the world to increase attention and support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as early detection and treatment and care of the disease.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UK, with one woman diagnosed every 10 minutes. According to UK charity Breast Cancer Now, that’s almost 5,000 every month. And this year it’s more important than ever to get involved. The charity says on its website, “For months, coronavirus put many areas of breast cancer on pause. Now more than ever, we need people, communities and businesses across the UK to help us press play on breast cancer research and care.
“From campaigning, volunteering and fundraising, to our life-changing care, support and world-class research, we’re going all out to raise money, raise awareness and make sure people affected by breast cancer know we’re here for them.”
To mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, a number of beauty brands have brought out limited edition products to donate proceeds towards breast cancer research and charities. In terms of makeup, Estee Lauder has a limited edition product, whereas in the world of skincare Aveda, Elemis and La Mer have deals on products to contribute to the initiative. On the hair and fragrance side of things, GHD and Jo Malone have their own collections and products for the campaign.
Of course, the initiative is not limited to beauty. There are a whole host of other brands offering products with proceeds going to these important causes – but we’re shining a light on the deals in the world of beauty, as there are some great ones to discover. Lots of online products are marked with the pink ribbon – a universally recognised symbol for breast cancer, which symbolises a fight for a cure and honours each and every one of us touched by the disease. These badges and pins are also available to buy online.
