Amazon Prime Day. Where did that come from?
A bit like Black Friday, this discount shopping extravaganza has seemingly appeared out of nowhere but is now officially A Thing. This year, Amazon Prime Day 2020 is not one but two days long, October 13-14, which means twice the juicy Amazon Prime Day beauty discounts (I hope)
My personal philosophy with discount shopping is simple: Shoot for the stars then sweep up the gutter. Translation: Either buy high value items for the biggest discounts, or go cheap and cheerful for ridiculous ‘I can’t believe I can buy anything for that price’ bargains. Both options are equally satisfying.
Want to know what I’ll be looking out for in this year’s Amazon Prime Day beauty deals? Like a Grand National race day tipster I’ve based my picks on brands with previous form on Amazon Prime day and my own intimate knowledge of the best beauty buys around. I can’t 100% guarantee they’ll come in, but in my opinion these are the best horses to back.
My Amazon Prime Day Beauty wish list
Hand on heart, this toothbrush changed my life. Ok maybe it just changed the way I brushed my teeth but considering I do that twice a day every day it changed a significant percentage of my life.
First of all it says a cheery hello and good morning to me every day (polite) It also uses a unique combination of oscillations and vibrations that give my teeth that silky post-hygienist feel (minus the post-dentist trauma)
Even better, it uses artificial intelligence to track the shape of my teeth, note where I am brushing to help me become a better brusher. It’s also quiet, quick to charge and pretty darn sexy-looking too. For a toothbrush.
All that said, it also costs £500 (yes you read that right) albeit at the time of writing it has been discounted to £249.99. Let’s hope for some further price slashing action come October 13th.
From the high to the low. Well, cost-wise anyway, there’s nothing low about the fabulous Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift Mascara.
It bills itself as better than a lash lift and puts in a sterling effort of living up to that bold claim thanks to a super-curling fibre infused formula that seems impervious to smudging. Last Amazon Prime Day Maybelline offered a tempting discount on their best-selling Lash Sensational Mascara, taking it down from £6 to £4.
Fingers crossed Falsies Lash lift gets the same treatment in 2020.
The good news is the GHD Helios isn’t just any dryer. This snazzy new model took the top spot in our Best Hair Dryers 2020 guide for its powerful motor, ultra slim nozzle and speedy blow dry time. GHD went all in on Amazon prime Day 2019 with 34% off their classic hot styler, so I’d suggest the smart money keeps a watchful eye on the Helios for 2020.
If you’ve never dissolved the grime of the day with this classic cleanser, can you even call yourself a beauty fan? Of course you can, but really you ought to try this product.
A meltingly soft balm packed with the sort of spa-like essential oils you normally have to pay £150 and listen to whale noises to be allowed to have on your face. It eradicates make-up but also softens skin, leaving it all peachy and prepped for your next skincare step.
Last year Elemis offered a very generous 30% off their luxury skincare products, so here’s hoping for more discount love this time around.
My Amazon Prime Day Beauty Dream buy
Dyson Supersonic Dryer
Will they, won’t they?
Dyson aren’t known to have much enthusiasm for discounting (let’s be honest, they don’t really need to) but that’s not to say it never happens.
And surely if there’s one year we could all use a little pick me up in the form of a tasty little morsel of money off the Dyson Supersonic, this is it? Yes, I did just try to use the pandemic to swing a bargain.
I don’t need to tell you why you should want this dryer, although if you do need some convincing it’s all here in our best hair dryers guide. Just know that if you see this baby with a discount on Amazon Prime Day, add to basket without hesitation because she won’t hang around.
