When will Duchess Meghan and Harry visit the UK?

Omid Scobie, co-author of new tell-all on the Sussex royals Finding Freedom, has explained how the couple are keen to return for their charity work.

He said that the couple would “love to get out there and be active in the field”.

American citizens are currently banned from travelling to the UK due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Omid Scobie added: “Harry and Meghan have made it clear that their work in the UK, including their royal patronages, will continue.

This afternoon, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on Commonwealth Day, alongside Her Majesty The Queen and Members of The Royal Family. The Commonwealth is a global network of 54 countries, working in collaboration towards shared economic, environmental, social and democratic goals, and the Service today seeks to highlight the vast community which spans every geographical region, religion and culture, embracing diversity amongst its population of 2.4 billion people, of which 60 percent are under 30 years old. As President and Vice-President of the @Queens_Commonwealth_Trust, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been passionate advocates of the Commonwealth having spent many years working closely with the next generation of Commonwealth leaders. The theme of the Commonwealth for 2020 is ‘Delivering A Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming’, placing emphasis on youth, the environment, trade, governance, and ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and innovation. From working to protect the earth’s natural resources and preserving the planet for generations to come, to championing fair trade and empowering the youth of today to transform the communities of tomorrow, the Service celebrates the Commonwealth’s continued commitment to delivering a peaceful, prosperous and more sustainable future for all. “While their base will be in the US, I think once travel restrictions ease we will see them moving around again and undertaking trips to the UK, both privately and professionally.”

But while Meghan and Harry are keen to return to the UK, Omid doesn’t think we will ever see them return as working royals.

“The UK will always be important to them, but I don’t think we’ll ever see that happen again as working royals,” he said.

Duchess Meghan decided to keep her four patronages, including two given to her by The Queen, after she left the Royal Family in March.

The former Duchess still works with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Mayhew, the National Theatre in London and Smart Works in the UK.

Harry has also continued his work with Senteable, a charity he helped found in 2006.
