Kate Garraway became visibly moved after former Prime Minister Gordon Brown delivered a touching message to her husband Derek Draper.
Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway spoke with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown on this morning’s instalment of the ITV news show.
And while the politician spoke out about how the coronavirus pandemic has been negatively impacting the young people’s jobs, the former Prime Minister also commented on the situation that Kate Garraway and her family have been facing over the past few months.
Gordon, who has worked alongside Derek Draper in the past when the TV star’s husband was part of the Labour party, said as his interview came to an end, “And our thoughts are always with Kate and her family”.
Visibly moved, GMB host Kate replied, “Well, thank you very much”.
It comes after Kate’s husband father of her two children, Derek Draper, was hospitalised back in March after testing positive for COVID-19.
He went on to be put into an induced coma for several weeks, before coming out of it back in July.
However, the former Labour party member has since been in a reduced state of consciousness and has reportedly not yet started speaking.
Kate gave an update on Derek’s condition last week when speaking on Good Morning Britain, saying, “It ends up with the same thing, which is stable, but actually in-between, when I’m not talking to you there are big ups and big downs. Not big ups really, small improvements, and worrying downs as well, but the last few days have been pretty stable, so keeping everything crossed really.”
Giving an update on the pair’s two children Darcey and Billy, Kate added, “I’m very conscious that I’ve been in a very strange place, and what they could probably do with is a little bit of fun over half term, and something out of the house, because we’ve been in our home, and the area around our home, since March now, so it would be nice to go somewhere else.”
