What does the world L’Occitane mean and how do you pronounce it?
L’Occitane is a French company that was founded back in 1976 by Olivier Baussan. Olivier had a wide knwoeldge of plants and want to create products that celebrated and preserved the traditions of his native Provence.
“At L’Occitane, we show off the very best Provence has to offer, for a glowing beauty that’s unique,” the brand says. “Every day, we commit to preserving the breathtaking natural environment that never ceases to amaze.”
Directly translated, L’Occitane means “the woman from Occitania”, which the brand explains:
“Occitania is the name of the ancient geographic area in southern France, spanning from northeastern Spain to northwestern Italy.”
Phonetically, you pronounce L’Occitane: “lox- ee- tahn”.
