The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will join a special programme dedicated to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People on the ABC network, airing on September 22.

Having stepped down as senior royals back in March, the couple have ditched their royal titles and are simply listed as “Harry and Meghan” on the line-up.

TIME’s annual list is being broadcast for the first time ever and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are expected to make a special appearance on the show, alongside Trevor Noah, Sandra Oh and John Legend.

President of TIME studios, Ian Orefice, said, “In a year in which we are unfortunately unable to convene the TIME100 community together in person, we are excited to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the members of this year’s list with a brand-new experience on ABC that will allow more people to participate than ever before.”

The couple have been settling into life across the pond and even bought their first family home in Santa Barbara.

And while they quit life as senior royals in order to pursue a more “peaceful” life in America, a royal expert has said Harry and Meghan didn’t want a totally private life, but a “different kind of public life”.

Victoria Murphy explained, “Meghan and Harry have taken the Royal Family, the media, and the public into uncharted territory with their decision to walk away from royal life.

“They have stepped back not in search of a totally private life but for a different kind of public life.

“A public life where they can have more control over who gets access to them and what they spend their time on.”

One of Harry and Meghan’s main focus is using their high-profile status to promote their new charitable organisation, Archewell.

A source told Town and Country, “They are hands on, working nonstop on the development of Archewell and it’s giving them a lot of energy.

“They want to see positive and substantive change happen in this world, and they want to lift up the voices and platforms of dynamic and diverse leaders of all kinds who are already making that change a reality.

“They want to focus on supporting and strengthening community.”
