The TV presenter proves she’s no angel when she reacts to making a rude innuendos…
Ruth Langsford is not one to hold back her thoughts on This Morning when it comes to husband Eamonn Holmes.
But when it comes to rude innuendos – it’s fellow presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield who you’d expect to leave the studio and viewers at home in fits of giggles.
But rewind 30 years and a young Ruth – believed to have been around 30 years old at the time – got herself into an unfortunate situation when she was filming live TV.
The presenter, who was commenting on a clip she had just seen during her stint on The Travel Shop show, made a huge error when it came to her choice of words to describe some adorable wild cats.
Ruth shared the unearthed clip with her 966k Instagram followers and captioned it, “ANOTHER clip from my many presenting jobs over the 30 years I’ve been on TV….this was a travel show and I was referring to a big, beautiful lion we’d just been watching…honest!! Thank you @hunsnet for digging this one out! #throwbackthursday #travelshow #bigcats”
In the clip Ruth can be heard saying, “Hmmm nice pussy.” But when the audience burst out in laughter at the accidental rude remark, Ruth realised what she had said sounded rude.
Why did Ruth’s choice of word cause such a stir?
Well, aside from being used to describe a feline animal, it’s also the nickname sometimes given to a woman’s vagina.
Ruth laughed out loud and immediately put her hands to her face in embarrassment. In an attempt to correct her description, she clarified, “CAT, CAT…pussy cat” before bowing her head in shame while attempting to control her fits of giggles.
How did her fans react?
Fans were left in hysterics with the throwback clip. One fan wrote, ‘That laugh” and another said, “Ruth! Priceless.”
Meanwhile one fan pointed out the Loose Women host’s youthfulness, and said, “You look the same now as you did then,” and another fan agreed, “Same hair style too.”
Looks like laughter could be the secret to staying young…
