Ruth Langsford has shared a heartfelt message with fans about a cause that’s close to her heart.
She took to Instagram to post a message alongside a picture with her dog, Maggie. She wrote, ‘To everyone doing their @alzheimerssoc Memory Walk 2020 today….sorry we can’t be together but, from me & Maggie, thank you all for still walking. If you haven’t already signed up it’s not too late Memorywalk.org.uk Remembering all our loved ones today ❤️’
Ruth is seen in the picture with Maggie looking happy and relaxed, wearing an Alzheimer’s Society t-shirt and some large shades.
The Alzheimer’s Society replied, thanking Ruth for her support. They wrote, ‘Thank you so, so much Ruth 💙 Lots of love to you and Maggie 🐶❤️ #MemoryWalk’
The 60-year-old lost her dad, Dennis, to Alzheimer’s back in 2012, so it’s a cause that’s close to her heart.
And fans were quick to show their support for the cause, too.
‘My mum sister and I walked 10km for my nan and Aunty today who were twins and both suffered with this cruel disease . We walked in our local park and lots of people clapped us around the route,’ wrote one follower.
While another said, ‘Well done Ruth , next year everyone will be together , hopefully xxx❤️’
A third wrote, ‘So proud of all those taking part … my parents did theirs yesterday x well done 👍🏻’
Ruth has previously spoken about losing her dad on Loose Women. She shared with the audience, “I was grieving and losing my dad but my mum was losing the love of her life, the man she married and had children with.
“They had years and years of memories. You don’t often hear people talking about that side of it.
“When my dad went into care, my mum was so distraught… You do hope, but you know they probably won’t get better.”
