As fans of the long-running BBC dance show we just can’t get enough of the behind-the-scenes revelations from the ballroom. And Strictly Come Dancing 2020 wasn’t about to disappoint us.
One of our favourite Strictly Come Dancing reveals is the release of the dancers’ microphone recordings from their performances. They’ve done it before and thankfully they’ve done it again as Strictly shared a playback of Saturday night’s first show on Instagram.
It was a night of glitz, glamour and skill. And as these recordings show, there’s no-one more encouraging to the celebrity dancers-in-training than their professional partners.
The video playback allows viewers to hear exactly what the celebs and their professional dance partners were saying throughout their performances. It begins with dancers Karen, Gorka and Giovanni enthusiastically encouraging their partners.
Oti Mabuse can be heard telling comedian Bill Bailey, “legs, tata, legs, tata, arms” as she helped him keep time in their Cha-Cha-Cha routine. And she wasn’t alone, with pro dancer Katya also helping boxer Nicola Adams to remember her steps, before they burst into song.
Former American football player Jason Bell also happily sang along during his performance, ‘I’ve got sunshine.’ To which his partner Luba responded, “Oh yes, you’ve got that sunshine!”
Meanwhile Alijaz tells his partner, BBC Radio 1 presenter Clara Amfo, “I love it! Come on!”, encouraging her all the way.
The video finishes with a flourish, as Karen tells Jaime Laing he did a “good job”, whilst Amy excitedly tells JJ Chalmers, “I’m so proud of you.”
Seen by Shirley Ballas
And she’s not the only one! Head Judge Shirley Ballas’ attention was certainly caught by these displays of kindness and camaraderie.
She took to Instagram to voice her approval, commenting, “Our professionals are sooooo positive. I just love them all. Kind caring and amazing dancers. Gratitude. X”
What’s next for Strictly 2020?
Strictly’s second live show is set to feature the first celebrity choice dance of the series. Nicola and Katya will be dancing to Years & Years’ chart-topping song Shine.
Their fellow celebrities and their professional partners will be taking on everything from the Viennese Waltz to the Samba.
We can hardly wait!
Strictly Come Dancing is on at 7:15 this Saturday on BBC One.
