  • A royal biographer has claimed Queen Elizabeth will step down and hand over the Monarchy to Prince Charles when she turns 95 next year.

Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning British monarch back in 2015 when she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother Victoria.

Two years later, in 2017, she became the first monarch to celebrate a Sapphire Jubilee – marking 65 years on the throne.

But now, royal expert Robert Jobson, has suggested the 94-year-old Monarch could hand over the Monarchy in less than a year.

Speaking on The Royal Beat, he said, “’I still firmly believe when the Queen becomes 95, that she will step down.”

Fellow royal report, Jack Royston, added, “I think she won’t want to, but realistically she will get to a point where she has handed over everything to Charles and then how do you look your son in the eye and tell him he is not going to be King?”

Although the Queen is still hands-on with her duties, the global pandemic has meant she’s been forced to do less and less in recent months.

While it is understood that Her Majesty doesn’t wish to slow down, official advice puts her in the vulnerable category and therefore the way she works must change.

Royal expert, Andrew Morton explained, “It’s terribly sad but I can’t see how the Queen can resume her usual job.

“The Covid-19 virus isn’t going away soon and will be with us for months, if not years.

“It would be far too risky for the Queen to start meeting people on a regular basis.

“She has always loved getting out and meeting people but she can’t take the risk.

“How can she carry out investitures, meet ambassadors, do walkabouts and visit places without meeting people at close range?
