Princess Eugenie will decline the offer of a royal title for her baby if offered by the Queen because she wants her child to live an “ordinary life”.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank do not wish to raise their child with a royal title, should the Queen offer one as a gift.
The couple are expecting their first child in early 2021, and have already made some big decisions about the baby’s future.
According to Vanity Fair, an insider revealed that Eugenie, 30, and Jack, 34, wish for their child to live an “ordinary life” as far as possible. Meaning a royal title is not important to them.
“Eugenie knows that a title can be a curse as well as a blessing and she and Jack want their child to live an ordinary life and eventually work to earn a living,” the insider explained.
While it’s not tradition for HRH titles to extend beyond grandchildren of the monarch, it is thought the couple will not even accept a royal title as a gift from the Queen.
The source cited it is “not Eugenie or Jack’s desire; for their child to have a title.”
Although Princess Eugenie and her sister, Princess Beatrice, have royal titles, the women aren’t considered senior working royals as they don’t carry out official engagements on behalf of the Queen.
Both of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter have jobs and receive no money from the Sovereign Grant. So it’s no surprise Princess Eugenie wishes to raise her child in a similar fashion.
While royal fans were thrilled to hear Eugenie and Jack’s good news last week, Princess Eugenie is further along in her pregnancy than is usual for an announcement.
And the decision to delay the announcement of her pregnancy could be a nod to her grandmother, the Queen.
It’s a widely upheld tradition for the Queen to halt the announcement of big news while another royal has something going on, in order to avoid stealing the spotlight.
And, with her sister Princess Beatrice having married Edoaro Mapelli Mozzi in July, it’s no surprise Eugenie wished to delay her pregnancy announcement.
