  • Princess Sofia of Sweden has said she would never want her version of “Megxit,” having found a “fantastic” balance of life in and out of the royal family.

Yet, unlike the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – she would never consider walking away from the royal family.

Breaking her silence on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior royals and addressing whether she would ever follow their lead, Princess Sofia said, “No. Not really. I think I have found such a fantastic balance, and I really see it as a positive that I have made it through these stormy years.”

While Prince Harry cited his desire to live a “peaceful” life away from the spotlight with his wife and son, Princess Sofia sees her status as a privilege.

“It is such a huge advantage, in that we have the opportunity to stand a little in both worlds.”

Princess Sofia and Meghan have lots in common as they both enjoyed their own careers before marrying into the royal family. Sofia was a model and reality TV contestant, having appeared on Paradise Hotel.

Princess Sofia’s comments come just days after Prince Harry and Meghan went even further to cut ties with the family and repaid the £2.4 million spent on their Frogmore Cottage home.

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed in a statement, “A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by The Duke of Sussex. This contribution, as originally offered by Prince Harry, has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the UK residence of The Duke and his family.”

The home underwent extensive work in 2019 before it became the Sussexes’ permanent home, transforming the Grade II-listed property from multiple apartments into a family home.

But, with the couple deciding to step down as senior royals and move to America shortly after, they made it clear they would like to repay the money owed.
