Has anyone actually saved any money in lockdown? As for me, while I may have lost the daily commute fares, I’ve also gained a serious online shopping habit (hello Amazon Prime Day and those delicious gin advent calendars and magical beauty advent calendars I must have to get through December). But in a time where the future is feeling a little uncertain, it’s no wonder we’re being a little more frugal.
Christmas is coming, with emails obnoxiously telling us how may days to go on the daily, and with the countdown comes the annual organisation of Christmas presents; a very expensive affair indeed.
But this year, I’m going to try something different, rather than the usual Oliver Bonas haul, or White Company candles. Instead, I’ll be making my own gifts in the form of flavoured gin. Currently with Amazon’s Prime Day deal, you can bag a DIY gin kit for just £19.99. I won’t do the math, but if you’re thinking about cost per present, that’s a pretty sweet deal!
The Sandy Leaf Farm Ultimate Gin Maker’s Kit, £19.99 in the Amazon Prime Day 2020 sale, make ten big bottles of your own gin. Flavours including classic citrus, chocolate orange, pink, and – the big winner – Christmas-flavoured gin.
This deal is only available until midnight tonight (14 October), so make sure you get in quick. View the Ultimate Gin Maker’s Kit deal below…

We’ve got some gin recipes ourself if you want some inspiration…
As well as this shamelessly being a money-saving exercise, you may even come across as more thoughtful with a homemade gift, which is a real added bonus.
For those of us feeling a little crafty, some handmade decorating is also sure to go down a treat with friends and relatives alike. For those who aren’t so crafty, a simple brown paper label will also match the minimal aesthetic.
Remember, you only have tonight to take advantage of this brilliant deal…
